this time last year i had just finnished doing chicago to alberquerque.
on a budget of $100 a day for petrol, food, entertainment and accomadation. every day on the road ,every night a cheap motel, the cheapest $19:95!
this was all part of a grand tour of the usa starting in orlando fl. and traveling all up the east coast to new york . then north west to chicago via pittsburgh. after doing 3/4 of route 66 i spent easter in the mountains of new mexico, before heading back to orlando via new orleans . 5 weeks and 7000 miles later i came home.

What a fantastic trip that must have been! I'd love to have an extended period of time to spend travelling around the US. The most time I ever get at once is about a week and a half.
If our primary vacation plans fall through this year (Athens, Greece), our fallback is Route 66 through Oklahoma.
Over the part of the road you travelled, did you have a favorite town, or state, or place to eat?

watch out for the motel 6 in tulsa, some red neck started fireing his gun in the air outside my room at 2 in the morning.
i wedged the table against the door and hid underneath the duvet the rest of the night !
