Street names

Post 1

This is a great article and reminds me of the time I grew up and lived there. I'd like to amend some of the street information in it, though. It's stated that Steep Hill goes from the railway station up to the Cathedral; the road that runs north from the station is actually the pedestrianised part of High Street, above that is a little cobbled street, Strait. Then that turns into the appropriately named Steep Hill. Browsing round The Whisky Shop on Bailgate provides ideal reward for the effort of climbing the hill. smiley - stiffdrink

That area of the city is a maze of little cobbled streets, full of out-of-the-way interesting shops that rarely get mentioned except in Guide Entries like this.

I can recommend The Bridge Cafe on High Street as an excellent place to spend a break from sightseeing; the waterway isn't a canal, it's the River Witham, not that that makes any difference to the taste of their splendid cream teas. smiley - teasmiley - cake

Thanks again for the entry.
