Lurks the Shadows of the Street
There is a shallow fellow, who hangs around
Who bypasses all rules, he’s not very sound.
No one to call a friend, he’ll cling to anyone.
A poor soul alone, who sings a lonely song?
I’m your friend he’ll say, so please trust me,
I’m not a user, as others would have me be.
He’ll follow you about wherever you may go,
To stir the emotions with others that you know.
Friendship means nothing but a lever to use,
To manipulate others, at his will to abuse.
Befriend him at your peril, be forewarned.
Others have learnt for they he hath scorned.
Privacy a word he can’t understand,
His being the one rule that’s his demand.
He can’t be evicted out from the street,
But keep your distance and be discreet.
Stay in the light and no harm will befall.
Fear the shadows from where he will call.
