A Conversation for A New Forest Walk - Ashurst to Brockenhurst

The Ashurst to Brockenhurst and then back by train ploy is definitely a good one, though having not noticed this rather useful guide I managed to pick a different route entirely. To be honest, there's no such thing as a bad route when you're in such a wonderful place.
Alex
PS No, there weren't any views of St Paul's Cathedral along the way.

Hello, Alex, and welcome to h2g2!
There are all sorts of useful guides to Life, the Universe and Everything here, and I'm sure that in future you'll check us out before undertaking any walks you think I might have possibly done in the future. Incidentally, there is also a wonderful h2g2aviators clip featuring a very handsome and prematurely bald young man to accompany the Entry.
If I can be of any further assistance, please reply with the secret codephrase 'asbos_for_asda'.
All the best,
Rich

Actually I found the video first, on YouTube, while looking for the Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain.

I just tried o find them on YouTube, but all I found was some muppet looking for deer.
Nice to see you, by the way, kidda.

...and Googling that provided me with Rowlf the Dog singing 'Do-Re-Mi'.
Sometimes I wonder how I can cope without this site.

You can't. We've all tried. Then you pop in for a look and Mu Beta is eating chillies or 2legs is back off on the Yellow Badgerine, and the old place becomes fascinating once again. If the place really was crap, that wouldn't happen.

Maybe I should get some sleep - I misread that as "Mu Beta is eating chillies off 2legs"
...
Anyhoo, you're right. In a way it makes sense that the place is part of the beeb - h2g2 is a unique institution that is forever at risk of falling victim to a modern age filled with endless, unoriginal content.

Yeah, that's a little scary...
It still works, this place. The dynamics change, but essentially it survives, like one of those communes you pass once in a while that's full of old women growing vegetables. From the outside it looks odd and old-fashioned, but if you think about it for a moment you realise they're all mad anarchists.

H2G2 - CREATIVE CONTENT WRITTEN BY MAD ANARCHISTS
Somehow I get the feeling that would scare away just as many newbies as it would encourage.

It's got a hell of a ring to it, though. I don't imagine that 'Creative content written by you' has them beating the door down. Bring on the anarchists.

The first time I saw the 'written by you' line back in 2004, I thought "hang on, I didn't write all this".
Seriously, though, it doesn't really convey any more of a sense of community or team spirit than a certain other encyclopaedia's front page.

It doesn't really, does it? How do you get all that across?
How about 'h2g2 - Home of Skankyrich'?

Yeah, needs a bit more class.

"Glimpses are often fleeting but sometimes lingering"
So managing to startle a whole herd of deer and watch them run off across the moor isn't a common experience
Key: Complain about this post
