yup. carpe diem
wolf biermann had this song called something like "don't wait for better times"
it is easy to say, but not all are able to count their blessings and live in the now
what they don't realize is that no matter how bad things are - they can always get worse
oh well, enough with the pocket philosophy. i'm heading home for dinner

Good words you wrote
(sorry for the late reply, I wasn't on my computer)

ah okay
glad to hear, or rather read, that there are still people with work

matodemi Posted Feb 29, 2008
yes, but usually one has to work to be at least a little well off....
but I don't want to complain, at least I live in a country where I don't have to starve

same here.
i have saved up for my retirement. but not enough yet.
unless of course i move to a country in the third or maybe even the fourth world where i could live like an old-fashinoned pasha or colonialist or something
however, that's really not my style
besides, i've already changed country once and i would miss my kids and at least a few of my friends - and maybe even other relatives

just wait long enough and Germany will count to these countries (not really, but sometimes it seems so)

Ahh, come on, it's not that bad here. And I don't think Pierce would move back to Germany - although it's close to Denmark.

Bel, when I only see how much they cut down on health things - then I could well believe we are on the way down, to a kind of country where only the rich do get decent health treatment - and that is one thing which I take into account when dividing countries into world 1, 2, 3 or even 4

You know what? Compared with the NHS in the UK, we can't complain. My friend, who lives now in Belgium, told me that medicine, 's appointments etc are very expensive there. I think it's just because we were used to a better system that we think ours is so bad now, but in relation to other countries, it isn't.

matodemi Posted Feb 29, 2008
that is right in some way, but then - we want other countries to better their systems and at the same time we worsen ours, for me that is somehow shizophrene....
What actually annoys me is, that there are medicines that are needed, but not paid when you are older than 12!!!
And that an 18 year old has to pay for everything even when still going to school!
Same time they complain about kids living in poverty, mean parents being no good ..... and don't question what is happening in poor families

That's true, I was upset when I found out that my son has to pay the visit - although he doesn't have an income. I even called the health insurance to ask if it was true.

matodemi Posted Feb 29, 2008
that's what I mean, and some medicines that my daughter needed had to be paid by me, and the girl is only 13
I know the old system wouldn't work anymore (due mostly to the still high unemployment) - but what they are doing now is ridiculous (some more medicines will be cancelled, or only the cheap ones which do NOT necessarily have the same ingredients have to be taken, this especially for people with diabetes and a bad heart condition)
social economic - that's what they still call our system, but what do they make of it?

thank bob my mum moved to denmark just like me (and 3 of my siblings). had she stayed in germany the authorities would pester my sister (who still lives in germany) to take care of her when needed.
we may pay a lot of taxes in denmark, but at least everybody is taken care of, regardless of how many relatives they have. if any
as for s and meds: i have to be a member of a private sick-benefit association. the authorities pay for any and treatment needed, but if you have chronic illnesses you can be in deep because not all of the meds are paid for
Key: Complain about this post
