excellent w*rk, bel smiley - ok

as you know i was born quite close to nordstrand, have visited it a few times and have enjoyed many a pharisäer over the years smiley - biggrin

just across the border - in the southernmost parts of denmark - they have a drink that is quite closely related to pharisäer, but there are two recipes:

the 'regular' method is to put a shiny smiley - 2cents in the bottom of a mug, fill up with smiley - coffee until you can't see the smiley - 2cents any more. than add snaps untill you can. then again coffee and so on until the mug is filled.

the 'hardcore' version is simpler: fill the mug with snaps untill you can't see the smiley - 2cents - then fill the rest of the mug with smiley - coffeesmiley - biggrin

neither of them need whipped cream by the way - that is reserved for the smiley - cakes. people in sønderjylland (as this part of denmark is called) are famous for serving at least 7 different layercakes and lots and lots of 'dry cake' and cookies on every thinkable occasion.

and *no* smiley - cake whatsover is served without whipped cream smiley - ok

Thank you, Pierce. smiley - biggrin

I've visited Denmark quite often when I was a child, and I do recall that the danes (friends of my mum's) we stayed with had smiley - cake at 10.00 in the evening. smiley - yikes
Don't recall what beverages they had with it, though.

Has nobody ever choked on the smiley - 2cents?

If you don't drink more than one smiley - coffee, the amount of alcohol isn't too big. But I guess you can't even drink small amounts due to the tablets you must take?

The last change of meds had a big red label attached stating 'No Alcohol', apparently the reaction could be, quote,"Serious, requiring immediate hospitalisation". smiley - yikessmiley - spaceI'd rather not take the chance, tasty as this coffee sounds.smiley - drool

Enjoyed the entry.smiley - smiley

In Cologne, they told me it was a 'Pharisäer' if we tipped our brandy into the coffee, but this seems to be wrong.smiley - laugh A true Pharisäer sounds like Irish coffee.

I suppose a short-term warm-up could be useful, if you were wise enough to stop with one.smiley - winkeye

Cologne, eh? They don't have a clue there, they can't even brew beer, only Kölsch. smiley - tongueincheek

Ooh, and Pharisäer is really delicious, so it's hard to have only one - except for zhose on a diet. smiley - winkeye
