ok, so situation is, im a soldier serving in iraq at the moment.
there are alot of flies, among other things.
mainly because of this stagnant 'creek' we have by our yard (we work outside, but even the few who are indoors are plauged by flies, moquitoes, and flying ants)
being me, half as a joking solution, half as a side project,
i came up with a plan.
venus fly traps.
im mostly curious about their survivability in a desert condition. naturally im going to have them potted, but im more concerned about the constant dust, and to a lesser extent the heat.
doin research, luckily, it seems that VFT's are unusually robust... which is great
yes, i know sticky traps would be more realistic solution, but this just seems fun AND creative!
anyway, im just lookin for tips on carin for the plant in this 'special' inviornment, notably the sand and dust.
please direct any advice, be it planting, breeds of plant ect to

Hi there!
Have just got started with such a plant, am very interested in them, and have just read your comments from 2009. Was just wondering how you were doing with yours, coping with the dust and heat, if you have carried on with trying to grow them in such conditions? Would be ever so interested to hear about your experience, i live in the UK, and think I will make a terrerium as per the recommendations on this site. Thanks, and look forward to hearing from you.

That's a shame, it looks like Kilo hasn't posted since 2009, so it's unlikely they can get back to you.
You could always try asking your question at the main forum on h2g2, Askh2g2, which is at http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/Askh2g2
Best wishes and welcome to the site,
Vip
