Quote "On the subject of glasses, if a barman or passing acquaintance asks you if you would like a 'bollocking'6 they are in fact referring to a bowlicken, a pleasing glass goblet used to serve beer" Unquote.

I am from Belgium, and use "bolleke" to designate a type of bier from brewery De Koninck (The King).
The term "bolleke" is derived from "bol" which means "ball" and refers to the shape of the glass. But De Konink is not the only beer with a glass of this shape.

The barman or acquaintance clearly speeks of the beer, not the glass, that would be ambiguous.

"Bolleke" is the way we (flemish/dutch speaking people) spell it, I don't know if "bowlicken" refers to a possible way to pronounce it, but it seems wrong to me: our "o" in "bolleke" sounds like the "o" in Bosnian, but you don't write Bowsnian, do you?smiley - winkeye, that would sound differently.

Proposal: "On the subject of beers, if a barman or passing acquaintance asks you if you would like a 'bollocking'6 they are in fact referring to a bolleke, a beer from Antwerp (http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/brunel/A158645) with a pleasing glass goblet".
