A Conversation for The Bogeyman

Bill Watterson's "Calvin and Hobbes" had a number of strips with Calvin in bed, having discussions with what seemed to be an entire colony of boogeymen under his bed. They, of course, denied their existence, but Calvin was rarely fooled, even composing poems about them:

"Oh, blood-red eyes and tentacles!
Throbbing, pulsing ventricles!
Mucus-oozing pores and frightful claws!

Worse, in terms of outright scariness,
Are the suckers multifarious
That grab and force you in its mighty jaws!"

There's another children's book called 'Busy Night' written and illustrated by Ross Collins which deals with the Thing From Under the Bed. I guess you could also mention 'Monsters Inc.', the Pixar Animated movie to some degree...smiley - winkeyesmiley - monster

"Monsters, Inc." is one of my alltime favorites. In particular, one of the "outtakes" (shown during the credits, I think) still has me rolling on the floor. Some of the power plant workers are running the door shredding machine (OK, I've skipped some background), and the machine breaks loose and runs amuck, dragging the workers with it as it goes the entire length of the factory and back, shaking wildly. At which point it knocks the "camera" on the floor and continues on past, so the rest of the catastrophe is seen from a low angle ... and sideways ...

My two year old daughter has discovered the joys of Monsters Inc. Hence we've been watching it 4 or 5 times a day...which I don't mind at all! smiley - biggrin It's got to the point where she's shouting out things like "23 19!" and "BE-caause...". smiley - somersault Ii have to admit my fave scene that always has me in stitches is Mikeys somersault into the bin and book swallowing trick.
