Does this mean that instead of Benji Mouse's suggested Ultimate Question "How many roads must a man walk down?", the actual Ultimate Question is more along the lines of "How long does it take to get there?" (and it then occurs to me... this is merely a variation on "Are we nearly there yet?") ?

Tis true. Many a question has been proposed which tries to satisfy the main requirements for an Ultimate Question, to which the simple answer 42 can be a worthwhile response.
Fortunately, only one has been found that fits all of the requirements, and provides a simple question for that simple answer.
As far as I can tell, the universe has not since been replaced by anything weirder.
