Modern geology has proven that a wide chasm opened up between the Black sea region and the Medeterrainian sea sometime near 10,000 BCE. The implications of this are relevant to Gilgamesh and to the Genisis flood story. The evidence of this enormous breach and flood is real. This event would be something that could have easily lived on until the age of written cuneiform. It is nearly unimaginable to think of the Black sea being created by such a "super-natural" dam break.
