OK an external competition for the next grade up in the Civil Service. It's in my journal.

A couple of points - firstly, isn't it Q Branch rather than Section?
Also, Desmond L. used to leave clues to Q's background by wearing specific ties in the films. For example, one is a Radley College tie (a public school in Oxford), and another denotes Q as a member of an amateur firemen club!

Well obviously neither me nor Crusader are as into the old school tie thing as you are.

Yes, perhaps I should have pointed out that I know this because of an interview that he gave promoting The World Is Not Enough. I am, in actual fact, not a tiespotter.
