The Milkcan escape trick

I remember reading an account of Houdini doing this trick in which he nearly did drown. The milkcan had been used to hold alcohol (beer I think) and he was almost overcome by the fumes (there is a small air pocket even with the can filled with water) from the drink. Certainly not a trick to attempt if you don't know exactly what you're doing.
