I certainly will Sub it for you as a Uni project, Bob, but you do need to make the Uni page. Subbing these is always a huge job regardless of who the author is, so the onus is on you to try to make it as easy as possible for me smiley - smiley

When the Romans left Britain in AD 410, they left a power vacuum. This was filled by a series of migrations often violent by three warlike and militarily superior tribes. The main settlement came from a consolidation of established Roman mercenary forces already resident in Britain and migration from northern Europe and Scandinavia of settlers and invaders.
Proposed Completion Date: July 2007

Bob's already seen this, but just so you're aware, Skanky: A28966341

That's an entry I've written on the fort at Vindolanda and the letters found there. It'll be going into PR at some point, most probably before Christmas.

HI there Bob, sorry its been a while since I commented:

Everything seems to be sorted apart from Part 1 and "The Wall" subsection, which still seems to appear twice in the entry... I can see the need to have two wall sections in the entry, but would be nice if one of them (the first one preferably) was phrased differently.

And within that section, I would still like some sort of explanation of where the measurement 2.023 metres wide comes from - the extra 3 significant figures in comparison with "on average 5 metres high" feels strange.

One last thing - at bottom of Part 2:
"In Vindolanda you will find everything you need for a brilliant family day out, there is something there for everyone."
Could you maybe just add one more sentence, with some examples of what is actually there? Pretty please? Feels a bit stark currently...

Oh, and would be nice if there was a link somewhere in Part 2 to brand spanking new A29849106 as well as the official ox.ac.uk site smiley - ok

Hope this helps,
smiley - cheersvp

Hey Rich and Bob, howsit going?

The (uh-oh, official nomenclature warning) link-header-thingy is looking much better now, but could you force it to appear the same way in normal resolution? I know h2g2 is trying to be multi-browser multi-resolution friendly, but at the moment its a bit annoying: even in really really small browser fonts, with words so small they can all fit on a single line (part 5 only smiley - smiley), the position of each of the links, and the number of lines, changes depending on the Part you are looking at.

Obviously, for people reading in fonts larger than.... .... really big (try hitting "Ctrl '+'" THREE times in Mozilla), but by the time a user gets to fonts that big, all the pages look terrible...

Aah, I just checked - there is a in some of them, but not all of them, and it moves about a bit - I would recommend just one, between Parts 2 and 3, and then if people have such huge text on the screen that Parts 3, 4 and 5 are not always on the same line, thats their problem smiley - smiley
More seriously, if we use the linebreaks twice, the entire link-header-thingy will be condemned to take up 4 lines all the time - 3 should be enough methinks.

What do you guys reckon?
smiley - cheersvp

Thanks very much for that, VP. I only got allocated this yesterday and for the moment none of them are in review. Rest assured that I will be looking at the link bar thingy during the subbing, and that you'll have your chance to comment on the finished project when it goes back into PR later in the month smiley - ok
