Is this going to be a University project, Bob? You've got five, so you could if you wanted.

If you decide to go that route, Bob, I'd be happy to Sub it for you - though you'd have to be prepared to wait a week or so before I do anything, as I'm away for most of next week.

Ok. In that case, it's probably best to leave these where they are for now and get some general comments about the content. When I get back, you can then take them out and I'll get subbing rights to them and take over. Sound ok?

No probs. In the meantime, I know you've still got Parts 4 and 5 to finish, but could you make up the Uni project page? You've got a little over a week before I can do anything anyway, so there's no rush - just give me a shout when you're done

In fact, talking of walls, have you seen the collaboration at F57153?thread=4769703 - we need a bit about Hadrian's Wall

Elentari Posted Nov 10, 2007
Did you know Hadrian's Wall was originally whitewashed?
A28868160 - Hadrians Wall Part 1: History of the Edge of an Empire
bobstafford Posted Nov 10, 2007
Yes Elentari that must have been like painting the Forth bridge
The Wall
In the bottom of this section
Throughout its length the front of the wall was protected with a deep ditch and a bank. When completed the wall was on average 5 metres high and 2.023 meters wide. There is evidence that when the wall was compleated it was lime washed to make it appear more imposing to the invader from the north.
Banks and Ditches
Thank you for the input it needs to be clearer.

Ye Gods! Turn your back for a few days and when you return, one entry has become 5!
Certainly sounds like a good idea to make it a Uni Project .
How come A710227 doesn't have the cute linking header thingy like the others in the Hammer project, eg A710236?
Did you get round to making the project page Bob?
A540299 makes it all sound very complicated, and the place looks deserted - but nevermind...
Umm, I will have some suggestions regarding structure and stuff, but in the meantime, something to think about - each entry should make sense as a stand alone entry, and having said that, you should try to avoid repeating yourself between entries as much as possible.
Example of how these two goals will conflict slightly:
Part 3: Begins too suddenly as standalone entry, and you are left asking "err, what bowl?"
Meanwhile in part 2 you say
"The Roman name for Hadrians wall is unknown, there is some evidence provided by an inscription on a bowl known as the Staffordshire Moorlands Patera that they called it the Vallum Aelium, or the Aelian frontier."
and in part 1 the information is in a footnote.
My sugesstion would be to remove the paragraph entirely from part 2, and paste in into the top of part 3, as the start of the Patera entry, and then describe the bowl, and put in the Who was Draco section, then put the forts mentioned on the bowl at the end of part 3.
(btw, I cant find any mention of Draco elsewhere, feels like something is missing linking him to bowl - I assume the name appears somewhere on the bowl?)
I would then put the reference to the bowl in footnote 2 of Part 1 into the main text, and insert a link to Part 3.
Does that make sense so far?

Think the project home page is your responsibilty.
Not thats its too difficult - its just to keep track of all the entries in the project, and their completion status. - As far as I can tell, all it really needs is the info you have in post 1 of this here convo.

How's this all going Bob?
Previous last things first:
1/ Seems to be some instances of patria in the Who Was Draco section of Part 3, hence my middle post above.
2/ Part 4 will need some sort of intro.
Once you reckon all the entries are definitely near completion and structured properly, we can step back and make sure they are logically laid out, without too much information redundancy, and maintain story flow.
In the meantime, I shall be reading Part 5, which seems to be well in progress, and then I will re-read part 1.
Catch you later,
vp
