Gentle writer,
How good of you to provide an entry on the late summer festival for bratwurst. It brought back many memories (in spite of therapy) of my years at Bucyrus, OH, USA. I must say that the best bratwurst I ever consumed was Carle's. Any others concur?

CARLES' BRATS!!!
A NATIVE!!!
Good heavens, from whence did YOU come. I thought I was playing to a European crowd.
My favorite were Bill Judy's original recipe, which has since been sold to (and changed by ) Kroger's. I fondly recall those yummy little seeds crunching between my teeth.
A German visitor to this page noted that currywurst, served in old East Berlin are supposedly delicious, but I prefer my wurst the Bucyrus way, split between two pieces of dark rye, heavy with mustard, onions, and sauerkraut.
How wonderful to find another native who visits the Guide! Welcome, and try to ignore all the heavyhanded BBC warnings and such. We're trying to do something about that.
Peace!

I actually live about ten minutes from Bucyrus (in Galion, OH) and have been to the festival a couple times. I lived in Bucyrus for a year and really didn't like it there at all. Living there kinda gave me a feeling of being doomed all the time. It's really strange to see something on this site that's so close to home though. My boyfriend's son worked at Carle's for a couple years, but I've never had the pleasure of eating there. I definetely want to try it sometime.
