A Conversation for Metaphysical Isms

Very detailed. I'd no idea there were so many -isms. Scary thought.

"A guy shouldn't believe in an ism. He should just believe in himself" - Matthew Borderick in *Ferris Bueller's Day Off*.
Apart form this entry, there is of course manarchism, oligarchism, fascism, communism, capitalism, feudalism, liberalism, conservatism, centrism, feminism, antidisestablishmentarianism, racism, ageism, sexism, and of course maccism (that last one being the ridiculous belief that Macs are better than all other computers. Generally does not recognise the existence of Linux).
Fantastic!

I think that last one should be Apple Maccism, lest people confuse it with Fleetwood Maccism or Macca-ism.

Very funny....
It always scares me to think how many different ways we divide ourselves up though. Like all the different religions, and denominations within each of them. You'd think that there'd be Christian, Jew, Muslim etc, but there are so many more subtle groups inside. And from what I gather, within Christanity anyway, some of the denominationsl differences aren't that great, but we've blown them up huge.
Sorry, rant over.

Well, everybody knows that the one true faith is the Western Branch of the New Reformed American Presbylutherans .
Fantastic!

Flip me!!
Good point though - is there any of the denominations that has it right, or are they all right, or are they all just a bit right?
Fantastic!

I'd say that Catholicism is the right version of Christianity, partly because it's the only one that makes any kind of sense to me, but mostly because I was raised Catholic. As for whether Christianity is in any way right...that's a whole other question.
Fantastic!
NPY Posted Sep 17, 2007
Well I'm sure making sense has something to do with it. I'm not going to knock Catholisism as I don't know enough about it. Though I've heard people knocking Christianity in general because of some Catholic practices. Though I'm sure those people would pick holes in any faith/religion/denomination.
Fantastic!
AlexAshman Posted Sep 18, 2007
Well, I reckon atheism is the right kind of atheism, and if anyone tells me I'm wrong I won't believe them
Fantastic!

funny how so many isms have an extremely good starting point but somehow along the way -----.
Perhaps to have an ism is divine, but to tolerate others is sublime.
