A Conversation for The Legend of Elvis Continues, It's Now and Ever

I'm amazed there's no mention of one of the UK's most well known Elvis fans, the comedian Frank Skinner. Almost every time he's interviewed on TV he mentions it! As a child his mum used to tell if if she won the pools they would go to Las Vagas and see Elvis perform so he's been a fan from childhood.
For example, widely reported at the time, in 1997 he outbid the Hard Rock Cafe in an auction to pay £11,200 for a blue velvet shirt. Then in 1998 he made a one off special TV documentary about his quest to discover its authenticity "A Little Bit of Elvis" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0172729/ meeting people who had lived and worked with Elvis. Then he donated the shirt for auction in a Radio Aid appeal to raise funds for the Asian tsunami. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/tv_and_radio/4175757.stm
He also bought a beermat supposedly signed by Elvis, but can't check the authenticity.
In 2000 he appeared in the stage play "Cooking with Elvis" as the flatmate of an Elvis impersonator. http://www.curtainup.com/cookingwithelvis.html

#3 has been "Temporarily Hidden" and "Awaiting Moderation" for a week! And yet I couldn't see there was anyhing in it that was a problem.
Perhaps it was just the yikser in action, but even so a decision should have been made by now. Surely if personal opinion is deemed OK for inclusion in an Edited Entry, people should be able to tolerate it in a "Discuss This Entry" thread.

I've attempted to contact the Eds, but the last few emails I've sent them haven't been replied to so we'll have to see what happens.

Hello Eco,
As far as we can tell, the moderation emails have been going out to you in reference to complaints you've made, and there haven't been any appeals we can see.
It might be that there's been a blip at your end or at ours, but we haven't any records of emails that we haven't replied to.
Kind regards,
The Eds

One to Natalie 29 April 2007 07:51, not answered. So I stopped emailing personally.
One to Curators, 05 June 2007 12:31 not answered (not from me, from another Curator). The same message was also posted on Ed feedback I think, but not answered there either.
08 June 2007 17:34 From me, via Scouts group, attempting to get attention from Natalie. Not answered.
As I said, no complaints emails coming it, potentially no moderation emails coming in (to complaints you've made??) so I couldn't possibly have responded to any emails. Please could you forward anything to me again - I haven't made any changes this end, I assumed it was once again a DNA glitch that means your end is recording them as being sent out, but they aren't going out to me.
I also sent one today, about an hour ago, which I assume you've read as you've commented on it in your post, which seems a bit off that I've put something in private as I've got a query and you've splashed it all over h2g2 that you've been complaining about my messages! I thought moderation was private, and for some reason you've decided to post it onto h2g2.
Thanks for that.

Oh, and you still haven't commented on why the above post is still pending...

The H2G2 Editors Posted Jul 16, 2007
We'll check these now - Natalie was off work the week following that, so that may explain why/if you didn't get a reply. We can't explain why the above post is pending until it's back in our own queue (and obviously we can't discuss any decision on here).

Can you chase up whoever is sitting on it please? It seems a bit unreasonable a non-h2g2 person is preventing h2g2 staff from dealing with an h2g2 issue.

Oh, apparently I'm a troll and my message has been removed because I chose to point out something I felt was wrong with this entry. I see. That's the way the site is run. Shame that's what the EG is supposed to be about - something we can all 'update' as we go along by correcting mistakes. Only you can't comment on certain things, obviously.
Oh, and as the Eds haven't deemed it necessary to post an apology for their hideous 'typo' on site (which they have now edited), I'll post it, in the installments (and slightly weird English) it came in:
"I wasn't aware that we mentioned any moderation stuff in
this thread - if it was it was purely accidental (hadn't even seen your
complaint of earlier today) and I apologise if that was the case."
"Now I see what you mean - that was nothing but a typo! I meant to type
'you've' made. I can go and change it, if it'd do any help."
And before this is complained about, emails from the Eds have been posted on site since forever, so it's not breaking the rules.

Hello Eco,
I'm very sorry that a decision about one posting, made some time ago, has caused you some distress.
Just to let you know, the posting was referred to the wrong h2g2 account in error - as a result, a group of about twenty postings remained 'stuck' in the queue for some time. Many apologies to anyone inconvenienced by this.
I can't of course discuss moderation in depth here, except to say that sometimes posts that aren't considered a breach of the House Rules when taken out of context may be failed if we feel the same point is being made repeatedly.
Since I apologised for the typo in person (and changed it as requested) I didn't apologise on the thread too, though I am happy to do so now:
I am sorry for the 'hideous typo.' I intended to say 'complaints *you've* made.' I am quite often on my own here - we can't spend an infinite time discussing each post.
You can of course post emails from the eds onto the site - however, don't be surprised if they think twice about replying to any emails sent to personal addresses in future.

Following advice from the Eds I'm reposting:
I've seen him on TV talking about this too.
Can't get 'em all I guess!
Shame personal experience still made it through though.
Key: Complain about this post
