A Conversation for The Merovingian Dynasty

The myth/theory that the descendants of a marriage between Jesus and Mary Magdalene is discussed in The Holy Blood and the Holy Grail by Michael Baignent and ichard Leigh. It is a theory and depends entirely on what you feel is valid in this book. Thus the Grail is not a chalice but the living descendants of the line of Jesus.` I have not myself, except in a conversation here, come across the story of one of Jesus brothers coming to Scotland but we have the legend that Jesus, in childhood, was brought on a visit to Glastonbury by Joseph of Aimathea, on which the song "Jerusalem" is based and it is also now thought that the Roman governor Pontious Pilate was actually born in the North of Scotland where his father had been posted for a time.

the third man(temporary armistice)n strike)

In the time of Agricola the Romans pushed further into Scotland than at any other time, establishing a line of forts from The Solway Firth to the Firth of Forth which became known as Agricolas Wall. He lived 39-93AD and was Governor of Britain 74-84AD. By Roman standards he was a pretty good chap. But his Scottish incursions would have put him too late and Hadrian didn't lay his first brick till aroumd 120AD.
Vini! Vidi etc, well he arrived around 55BC but he took himself and his boys back home. Only when Claudius sent his troops in 43AD did an occupation occur. So I'm afraid it is highly doubtful if PP was born here. Sorry to sound like Dana Scully but our mate Fox is only interested in the truthsmiley - kiss

I read Holy Blood Holy Grail about 17 years ago and have just started rereading. Can't put it down-compelling. It answers so many questions that I have had about Christianity - I have always had problems "believeing" or "gettig saved". Want to follow with a trip to Scottland and France for a "Cathar" theme. Family names are McCulloh and Acheson and from the Aberdene area. Very interested in the Knights Templar. Allison

Hello Allison, As you will know, from what you have read, The Templars shifted their activities to Scotland after eing disbanded in France and one of the main centres of interest is Roslin Chapel near Ediinburgh in Scotland. I actually went there one summer and I learned a lot. There seem to be Templar links throughout Scottish history. They fought at Bannockburn and seem to have gone underground as Freemasonry lodges.
The French connection is fascinating too. I recently read The Holy Place by Henry Lincoln about the mystery of Rennes-le-Chateau. The Templars seem to have got into many circles/intrigues throughout history!

SAMARKAND,
Thank you for the suggested reading. Having been raised in “The South” USA, concepts discussed in HOLY Blood, HOLY GRAIL & THE MASICONIC LEGACY are not table talk . This is the “Bible Belt” and Darwin would be in real trouble. My father is a “Yankee” and gave me HB, HG. He is a Mason and Knights Templar but will not discuss the Orders at all. So, I have developed a curiosity about how Christianity formed the world as we know it...... Many of my friends have tried to “save” me but I just don’t get it. Have you ever watched American religious television? It is a “hoot”, a lot of crying and asking for money. I am very curious about my Scottish roots . I have a place to start as my father is a good record keeper. So my sites are set......In college I traveled some in Europe but I was too young to fully appreciate the experience. How I wish I could have that time back: 6 weeks in Florence, some time in Switzerland, France and Austria. My ex-husband is Catholic so for about 10 yrs. I went to Mass, but never converted. Religions are so fascinating, complex and confusing. Most of the people here in Tennessee are “creationists” and all dualistic, no questions asked. Thanks for the comments....still wondering about the Universe and feeling a little out of place......Allison

One more note. . . the suppositions in Holy Blood, Holy Grail do not diminish what Jesus had to say. The book simply makes history more believeable and infinitely more interesting - but I don't believe it interferes with JCs basic teachings. Miracles are great, but our actions were His main concern. However, the suggested ideas in HB, HG are concepts that most people in my part of the world would never consider in their wildest dreams. (And don't lots and lots of religions from all over the globe have a Resurrection theme?) Allison

hELLO AGAIN aLLISON IT IS NICE TO HEAR FROM YOU LIKE YOURSELF I AM VERY INTERESTED IN RELIGIONS IN A BROADER SENSE AND I BELIEVE THAT RELIGION, BEING SPIRITUAL IS A VERY PERSONAL THING. THERE ARE MANY PATHS UP THE MOUNTAIN AND WE EACH FIND THE ONE THAT WE FEEL WE CAN TAKE. I THINK THE WORLD RELIGIONS HAVE A LOT OF BASIC COMMON FACTORS. RULES, A LEADER SUCH AS ALLAH JESUS BUDDHA OR RATHER FOUNDER I SHOULD SAY. AN AFTERLIFE A SOURCE OF SPIRITUAL STRENGTH IN TIMES OF TROUBLE AND I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT ANY HUMAN BEING HAS THE RIGHT TO IMPOSE/CONVERT ANOTHER BY PREACHING OR BY SUBJUGATION. YES i HAVE INDEED SEEN SOME USA RELIGIOUS BROADCASTS. SOME OF THESE PEOPLE GET REALLY CARRIED AWAY AND TAKE THE CONGREGATION WITH THEM., LIKE THE ECSTASY SEEN AT POP CONCERTS ONLY ABOUT GOD OR SUDDENLY BEING MIRACULOUSLY HEALED ETC AND THEY CAN BE VERY AMSUING TO WATCH. I MUST SAY I LIKE SOME OF THE OLD FASHIONED REVIVAL TYPE HYMNS WHICH GIVE THESE MEETINGS A SORT OF FLAVOUR OF THEIR OWN.
ABOUT TEMPLARS, AFTER THEY WERE DISBANDED AND DENOUNCED ON FRIDAY L3TH OCTOBER WHICH IS WHY FRI 13TH IS SAID TO BE UNLUCKY MANY FLED TO SCOTLAND AND A LARGE GROUP WENT TO PORTUGAL TO A PLACE CALLED TOMAR WHERE THERE IS A CASTLE AND CHAPEL JUST AS AT ROSLIN IN SCOTLAND COMPLETE WITH UNDERGROUND PASSAGES WHICH NO ONE EVEN AT THE PRESENT DAY IS ALLOWED TO ACCESS SO THERE IS GREAT SPECULATION THAT THE GRAIL MAY BE/HAVE BEEN IN PORTUGAL. A LOT OF THIS IS BASED ON THE PARSIFAL LEGEND. I DONT KNOW IF YOU KNOW THE STORY OF PARSIFAL WHO WENT LOOKING FOR THE GRAIL. WAGNER WRTOE AN OPERA BASED ON IT SPAIN ALSO HAS ITS GRAIL LEGEND SO ALL IN ALL THE GRAIL SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN A WIDELY POULAR EUROPEAN THEME WITH TEMPLARS ALWAYS LURKING SOMEWHERE IN THE BACKGROUND.
TAKE GOOD CARE UNTIL WE TALK AGAIN!

Hello Samarkand, This is very exciteing for me. Several years ago I decided I would go on my own "Quest" to discover the nature of GOD. You can imagine where that took me, not very far, and now I am back with interests in the Cathars and Knights Templars. Thanks for the info. I do appreciate it. You are very informative. How I wish I could travel to Europe.... As I mentioned before my family is from the Aberdene area in Scottland (we can trace our lineage back before the American Civil war, wich is a short period of time as far as the world is concerned, but a long time for Americans. Was Parsifal the fellow who told Author (can't spell) "You and the Land are One". As I remember, after he was a squire he went on a long and horrable quest - but gave life back to the land. This journey into history is like a great big puzzle, and I know some people have more pieces than others. I am just a beginner, with only one or two pieces, but I appreciate your communication. The truth sometimes scarey and always wondeful. Take care.......Allison

My father suggested I read "The Temple & The Lodge" ©1989 by Michael Baigeng and Richard Leigh. Two famaliar names. He tells me that there is much interesting material abouth the Knights Templar and many nice photos. I have also wanted to see Hadrians Wall in GB and I talked with a man the other day who is from Great Britian and he said there is not much of the wall left. Sad. We have some wonderful history here in America (especally in the eastern part of America) - but the world - there is so much to learn. I feel so fortunate that I have been able to travel a little because it is so important to know that not all people live the same. I guess people are all basically the same on the inside, but there are so many beautiful and strange places & customs to see and learn about. I think my favorite country I have visited is Mexico. Can you believe that. It is very, very romantic. Of course, it is very European. Although, I did get VERY sick. Disentary,
icky!!!!!!! But it was worth it. I drove for 2 weeks all over Mexico. Wonderful. Forgive me for being curious but are you in Uzbekistan? Now thats history!!!!! Have you heard of Shen Horses? I train horses and that is a breed that I am not familiar with. I don't look like a horse trainer. I am small and fair, but horses like me. I train them to work cattle. I have a big Black Angus Bull named Moses. Funny. Well, take care and keep in touch....if you have any info...please pass it along to me.... Allison

SAMARKANK Are you there? I have just started reading the myth of Tristan & Isealt. I know you must be famaliar with the myth? In the intoroduction Parsifal was briefly mentioned. Have you ever read Joseph Campbell. He was a wonderful lecturer, basing his lectures on eastern & western religions & myths. Myths to Live By is one of my favorite books. I am also reading a book titled "People of the Lie" it was written by a Christian but so far so good. I have had trouble sleeping lately, so I have been reading myself to sleep. I thought when we grew up life would get easier. Ha Ha. Thank goodness for good authors and large animals. We will be celebrating Thanksgiving here soon. It is a big eating holiday. My favorite holiday because all you do is eat and talk. Christmas is not my favorite becasue I have to spend money & time I don't have on people I don't like. My brother is coming from Washingtond DC, I have not seen him in 8 yrs. His wife is from Korea & is beautiful. Hope all is well with you.....write back if you get a minute.....Allison

I need to read that book by Baignent. Sounds very interesting.

I didn't become interested in this part of history until after reading "Rule By Secrecy" by Jim Marrs. The author gives some brief histories of those societies in the book. One thing I am trying to trace is the origins of my family coat of arms and a possible connection to the German Order of Skull and Bones. My apologies to any morbidities, but my surname has the same symbol as S&B has. Too bad one doesn't get to choose their own surname, haha smiley - smiley

I read about the origin of the skull and cross bones just recently but can't remember all the details. It had to do with with death of a woman and her lover. Something tied to the Knights Templars. I will do some research this weekend and see what I can find out for you. Allison

Research on "Skull and Crossbones". Look on page 83 & 84 of Holy Blood Holy Grail: "A great lady of Maraclea was loved by a Templar, a Lord of Sidon; but she died in her youth, and on the night of her burial, this wicked lover crept to the grave, dug up her body and violated it. Then a voice from the void bade him return in nine months time for he would find a son. He obyed the injunctioin and at the appointed time opend the grave and found a head and leg bones of the skelton (skull and crossbones). The same voice bade him "guard it well, for it would be the giver of all good things," and so he carried it away with him. It became his protecting genius, and he was able to defeat his enemies by merely showing them the magic head. In due course, it passed into the possession of the order.22
This grisly narrative can be traced at least as far back as one Walter Map, writing in the late twelfth century. But neither he nor another writer who recounts the same tale nearly a century later specifiesthat the necrophilic rapist was a Templar.23. Nevertheless, mentioined by 1307 the story had become closely associated with the order. it is mentioned repeatedly in the Inqusition's records, and at least two knights under interrogation confessed their familiarity with it. In subsequent accounts, such as the one quoted above, the rapist himself is identified as a Templar, and the remains so in the versions preserved by Freemasonry-which adopted the skull and crossbones and often employed it as a device on tombstones...........there you go!!!!!! Great Book!
