Punctuation would have helped quite a bit, but I get the main points. Perhaps you should write a follow-up article?

Re kilts,
you know the truth, but see
http://www.reconstructinghistory.com/scottish/
specifically
http://www.reconstructinghistory.com/scottish/kilts.html
and
http://www.reconstructinghistory.com/scottish/clantartans.html
so be careful when you assert 'the truth' especially when you also include waffle about clan tartans.
and yes, I'm Scottish as well.

The dagger traditionally worn in the stocking (sock) is the sgian dubh ("black knife") NOT the dirk. Dirks are over a foot long including handle and would be a tad awkward stuffed down your sock.
Dferg, kilt wearer and proud of it.
