Communities for schools?

Hi all
Hope anyone who's just had to sit these things did ok... and is setting up for a nice summe (if *only* the sun would come out...).
I'm working on another beeb project to build schools communities. At the moment we are thinking of a somewhere where people can tell stories / make music / swap code and generally chat. We also like the idea of building up a guide to the curriculum - where people submitt work they're proud of and it becomes part of a resource that maps the curriculum. Much like in H2G2 we want people to discuss eachothers work - and critique it. The idea being that it becomes a place for collaborative learning. Wondered if anyone had any thoughts about whether this might / might not work, or general criticisms etc...
All thoughts and comments muchly appreciated, Ellie
