Just to warn you, for an almost hospital radio show (that's where it was recorded) it contains highly inappropriate tracks, banter and references to Rolf Harris.

it's a restricted licence station at the moment which means we have to apply for individual broadcasting licences that only last about 2 months at a time. but that will all be changing in the next year as the Government is bringing back Community Licences which last 1 to 2 years at a timesmiley - ok many of your local stations that run 24/7 would have started life as a restricted licence or community licenced station.

My DJ name is John Bugwa but they haven't added my profile yetsmiley - sadface i shal have to get on to them about thatsmiley - cross

smiley - cool

I'm on Red Dot Radio in Edinburgh - www.reddotradio.co.uk - excuse the truly dire website though, we all hate it!

We don't your normal kind of licence as we broadcast through BT lines on a private network, so to speak. However, the new PPL rules mean that we may well have to pay for needle time, which could possibly mean the end of us smiley - sadface

well at the moment our local council sponsor us, and as you can see our website alsosmiley - ok

perhaps one of your crew should write a grovelling letter to your local councillor or council office and ram the benefits and good image they could get from sponsoring such a worthwhile project. they love it when you use the words 'youth project', and also try getting your local press involved, that'll make the politicians cough up a bit toosmiley - winkeye
i think they get a certain amount of budget for community projects anyway so you may be entitled to some of that.

try iCan for information on your local councilor

perhaps you can find something helpful on http://youthradio.co.uk i am not sure what is on there as i haven't visited it for a while but worth a shot. the Millenium Volunteers might be worth contacting for advise and possibly assistancesmiley - ok

true, you are even better than that. you are a community project that offers valuable learning resources to the youth sector, or those of them wanting to give back to the community via hospital Radiosmiley - biggrin
and who knows, you could have a budding Chris Moyles or Scott Mills in your grasp. just push it to them and keep nagging tem until they sponsor yousmiley - ok

Radio Is a great motovator.

My experience, was with a time limited licene for a local festival.
Students went out and intervierviewed guests, public etc as well as played music.

Students got a lot out of the experience. The only downside was the festival was during Wimbdon fortnight, so they had the FM frequencies.
But AM coverd the whole area. Which had the problems of disrupting some TV localy.

If you want to aim for being successful, you could at least choose a decent double act like Pete & Geoff or Mark & Lard, rather than Chris Moyles & "Comedy Dave".

who said anything about double actssmiley - huh

my point was to be succesful and well known, 'not' to be like anyone elsesmiley - ok i could have said Tarrant or John Peelsmiley - smiley
