A Conversation for Round Robins

I believe that in craft terms, a Round Robin can be a piece of work where many people contribute, each doing a part, then sending along for someone else to continue. Examples would be quilting blocks, embroidery etc.

Not that I ever have participated, I suppose it would all end up in a pile in my house somewhere...

Nice one,h5ringer: Quilters, being generous and gregarious souls ,often participate in Round Robins. One such ,involved groups in 5 or 6 countries, who each made a 12" or 15" square, indicative of the colours and symbolism of their native land. This was posted to the next country where another quilt group added 4 borders of 4 or 5 inches wide,in complementary colours,in their own country's style. The originators would eventually get a 60" or 70" quilt back, with lots of lovely borders they hadn't seen before ,and many new friends.

Something wrong with being a quilter? smiley - towel
Apart from that I disagree with round robins.
Why are you people on h2g2 so antagonistic?

This type of humour is not amusing.
My whole pack has helped you enough now.
It is time to leave.

The antagonism is probably due to the fact that a handful of people take the time and trouble to write these articles then very few people respond. Good day.

I am more of a wannabe quilter, so nothing at all against it... one project is 10+ years, and much to do before I finish it.

Ah, just noticed this thread. Sorry for not responding earlier.

I included the quilting / craftwork version as a variation in the Many-authored Story section. It seems to work along the same principles, and so I stuck it there.

Thanks to everyone who read my little piece.smiley - ok

Dear Milla, I am indeed a Quilter and I also have had UFO's(unfinished objects) hanging around - procrastination is what gets everything else done! There are an awful lot of us around.I'm going to the N.E.C. in Birmingham in August (along with about 50 others from my area) for an International show that will have over a thousand entries and will take up three halls there.Have a look if you can ,it may inspire you to finish your piece.smiley - smiley
P.S. some of the chaps who work there said it was the best Art they'd seen in years.

There is one more type of round robin that I didn't include, though.

There's a type of bet that uses the term, I understand. However, I know nothing of betting, and though I asked for people to explain it to me, no one did, so I didn't put it in.

The offer still stands, though. If someone can explain it to me, I'll add it in.

Haven't googled them yet... But came to think, I have three weeks of taking my son and his cousin to swimming lessons - an hour a day would get me somewhere, don't you think? Unless my carpal tunnel starts to act up.
