While the Toledo Zoo is not as large as Columbus zoo it has some very nice exhibits, including a hippoquarium where young and old can get face to face with a hippo. You can probably cover the Toledo Zoo in about three hours.
Bowling Green has the largest collection of Fruit Flies according to the Ripley's Believe it or Not.
Danny Thomas was a Toledo bred son. A well known comedian/actor. His daughter of note is Marlo Thomas. She married Phil Donahue. She is continueing the charitable work started by her father at St. Jude's Hospital for Children. I would have to look this up first but I want to say Danny was the primary backer in building St. Jude's.
