A Conversation for Riven - the Computer Game
Nice entry!

It *is* difficult... but the entry, i'd like to point out, says the number system is what most people find difficult. What most people I know who've played found most difficult was the room with the engraved gravestones, and associating the sounds, colors, shapes, numbers, and islands. That's hard...

Spiffy - Always glad to see you Posted Mar 24, 2004
Played it years ago and loved every second of it, but I must admit I had to resort to hints pages as well.
Nice entry indeed!
PS: Titania, I'm not stalking you - just following your advise

It hasn't been out for that long, maybe 3 years.
I didn't use help pages... just took a long time. have played twice, two, it's a lot more interesting with the DVD version.

Titania (gone for lunch) Posted Mar 25, 2004
No worries Spiffy - I've often come across really interesting discussions myself by actually checking someone else's list of conversations!
I got the same feeling in Riven as I got in Myst - moving forward carefully fully expecting to run into someone - and when that little girl showed up in Myst (wasn't that the only person in that game?) I almost fell off my chair in surprise!
Has anyone ever tried to annoy that big whale when you're sitting in that odd chair? That almost made me fall off my chair too!

Gnomon - time to move on Posted Mar 25, 2004
Did you ever meet the priest? If you go very quickly to the island with the goo, you will meet a tall thin guy in white robes, who takes one look at you and runs off. If you follow him, you'll see him getting into the maglev train and driving away.

Yes, I've seen him - and some guy that I can't remember what he looked like in the long corridor with the stairs leading up to the 'whale chair'. He also got into the train and drove off. This happened pretty early on before I had gotten the hang of things, and I was a bit worried that I wouldn't be able to get off that island without the train, not having realized that you can call for it... I guess I had just been lucky to have it waiting for me until that point!

Can you believe I just finished playing Myst today
Having completed Riven several years ago and Exile a couple of years ago
I must say
Myst - Hard - got wrong end of stick in Stoneship age and needed big help Got the rest though.
Riven - nigh on impossible. Needed huge help - particularly with the "Gravestone" puzzle. Got the last few puzzles out myself though.
Myst III Exile. Easiest of the lot, no help required.
Enjoyed all of them
Waiting for the next one...
Nice entry!
Gnomon - time to move on Posted Apr 20, 2004
Wait no longer. Myst Uru is available at the moment. But you need a pretty powerful machine to run it.
