h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I've just read your forums on insults and think they're great.
I think that you should also have a forum on Criticism as well as there are some classics.
My favourite is,

"I've just picked up your new book. I laughed, I cried.
One day I might read it."

I just can't remember the book is was in - AAAARGH!
(or was it about a Steve Martin book?)

I think it was Groucho Marx actually but I'm not sure.
It sounds like something that Steve Martin might say.

Groucho was the best at the insult.

A favorite Groucho insult I've referenced myself. After establishing that Margaret DuMont (sp?) was, indeed, a widow, as she sais "I was with him at the last; he died in my arms." Groucho replied, "So, it was murder, was it?"

Or the related retort on being presented a book by the author: "Thank you for the book. I shall waste no time in reading it." That one might have been Alexander Woolcott.

Another good Groucho comment.

"I didn't like the play but then I saw it under adverse conditons.

One of the best ones I ever heard was that a director hated the actors in a movie he directed so much that he actually added the disclaimer "1009 tons of dynamite were blown up during the making of this film. Unfortunatly, none of it under the right people". This is suppoosed to really be seen on the end credits of a movie, but I don't know if that's true or not.
