I played for the Combined Services against Cambridge University in 1957. The University used the new tactics and as I recall we lost, perhaps heavily although we gained ground towards the end.
The defensive nature of the new game made it seem boring, perhaps not cricket, and we were not attracted to the idea of discarding our own approach - of trying mainly to get the winks into the pots in a gentlemanly fashion.
We were all based at our happy, happy habitat at foxy Foxton Hall, an establishemnt seven miles outside Cambridge for officer cadets learning Russian in the course of their National Service.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
