O dear...sheep, convicts (alluded to re missing sheep) pavlovas, BuzzyBees & Swanndris...talk about stale cliches and stereotypes.
Aotearoa-NZ is MUCH more than this drab dreck - and I daresay Oz is too-
but ,authoriatively, we (NZers) originated the pavlova (albeit softcentred meringue puddings had been around for decades beforehand.)

I don't think anyone seriously cares where the pav and sheep come from. The fact is they are here. Presumably to stay. And if it is so important to have a national icon for goodness sake why bother fighting over burnt eggwhites?
