Stratford to North Woolwich

Out of curiosity, what happens to the line between Canning Town and North Woolwich after the Docklands take over the Canning Town to Stratford bit? Will that just close down?

Ah - good question. The only plans for it at the moment are for Crossrail 1 (A19877728) to poach the station at Custom House along with a small part of the line - otherwise, it's just disused for now.

Just re-visited this conversation. The stretch from Stratford to Canning Town has had its remaining tracks taken by the DLR (this new section of the DLR continues on to Stratford International). This wasn't the first time the Eastern Counties and Thames Junction Railway was partially poached - the Jubilee Line took the other tracks along the above stretch in 1999, and the Beckton branch of the DLR took a couple of less-well-known parts of the old EC&TJR.
Crossrail 1, meanwhile, is indeed taking Custom House to North Woolwich. Between the DLR and Crossrail, that accounts for most of the old EC&TJR and thus the eastern part of the North London Line.
I should update this entry some time.
