The Citgo sign is also an invaluable landmark for lost freshmen at Boston University. There are few places in Boston from which it cannot be seen, and the sign sits atop the Barnes and Noble at BU, which will gladly charge you three or four times what you ought to be paying for books, software, dorm items, and logo wear. THat being the case, the best use for the Citgo sign is to get your bearings so you can find the Blandford St. T stop (While facing the Citgo sign from Comm. Ave, turn left and walk until you see above-ground T tracks, then cross over and wait there. There are no signs, but you should learn the location of this stop because it's the easternmost one where you can get free outbound service. Handy!).
