A few things you did not mention:
a) all the "supermarkets" would be classed as "corner shops" in any other city
b) the total lack of any variance in clothing
c) the pathetic hordes of violent teenagers roaming the streets of Northbridge looking for a fight
When it is said that Perth is the most isolated city on earth, this should be regarded as being both physically AND psychologically true. And perhaps true in a temporal sense as well.

But if being a "non-isolated" city means the pathetic hordes (I agree with you there) become armed gangs, the smog becomes permenent instead of just an occasional winter thing, and we loose our corner shops for huge, bland, boring shopping centers, do we really want that?
