I think, judging by the description of the bath-house, I've been to this same one (in Osaka?) and I just thought I'd mention that this is more of an upper-class, commercial type of bath-house... I've been to lots of different ones, all over japan, and they're all different, mostly a lot smaller and usually no towels are provided, and fairly often you have to take your own soap as well. There are usually only one or two baths to go in as well...
Speaking for females, I'd say the experience is pretty much the same as that for males...from what I've read in this article, and spoken to my brothers and father about, at any rate...
