Rather than comparing Teotihuacán with London, it might be more meaningful to compare it with other great cities of the time. Constantinople, for example, had a population of 400,000, making it twice the size of Teotihuacan. Rome probably had a similar size.

Thats why I said one of the largest cities in the world...I've read conflicting reports but by 500AD Rome was in decline and was probably about the same size as Teotihuacán. Your right in that Constantinople was probably bigger as the eastern empire was on the rise. The other big cities were probably in the east in places like china.
I just used London as hootoo is has a strong British inclination and I just like the way Teotihuacán was huge way before London even really got going. Its just a shame it collapsed whereas places like Constantinople have just seemed to exist for ever...Istanbul is a marvellous city!

I'm going to have to demote your pyramid of the Sun to 4th in the world - Egypt's Red Pyramid is much bigger at 104m high.
