A Conversation for Towels

It's absolutely true that knowledge of where your towel is is immensely comforting, and that the absence of knowledge of where your towel is is distressing and disorientating. I was 6,000 miles from home when I opened my luggaage and found that I had forgotten to pack a towel. This sucked in the immediate, pragmatic sense in that it made it hard for me to have a shower to get rid of the effects of 6,000 miles travel, but I was also really disconcerted until I could get to the shops the next day and buy myself a new one. The new one wasn't a very good one, and I didn't bother to bring it home with me. It served all the practical purposes of a towel, but it wasn't *my* towel, and I found that very troubling.
Never forget your towels, travellers.
