I'm surprised that, in all this rampant paper-clippery, no-one's mentioned this marvellous way of joining 2 paperclips with about 5 times the effort of normal (but about 10 times the fun
)
Step one: take a bank-note (someone else's for preference)
Step two: fold it in thirds
Step three: take a paper clip and attach it over the middle third and one of the outer thirds
Step four: take another clip and attach it over the middle third and the other outer third
Step five: pull the two ends sharply, to unfold the note
Step six: be astonished as the paper clips leap into the air, conjoined and happy
Repeat until bored, or sacked
