A Conversation for Alien - The Film
The Director's Cut

Contrary to most director's cuts I've seen, I was very disappointed with the Director's Cut of Alien.
Personally I much prefer the orginal edit released to the Cinema.
One of the best bits in the cinema release was the sheer panic and mayhem caused by what happened to Kane on the planet surface.
This bit is butchered in the director's cut and lost all its dramatic effect in my opinion.
The scene with Dallas going 'Kill me' though was illuminating as of course the same scene was later rerun (although we didn't know it) in Aliens.
I still think Alien is about the best horror movie I've seen and along with its first sequel, total cinema classics

I often find the pacing and flow tends to go in various directors cuts of movies.
Though they often add more depth to the story or characters. Which is really interesting if your a fan, but seems to be lost on the casual viewer.
