"Threnody" (the word means "lament") was composed by the Polish composer Penderecki in 1959. Using very unusual techniques ("sound mass" composition), it is somewhat reminiscent of the shower scene music in "Psycho", IMHO. The sound (and the score) are really like nothing else I've heard or seen.
