Just a very minor point of pedantry, that the Manhattan project built three bombs: the Trinity Test used a bomb of the Fat Man design; which needed to be tried out because the physics was a lot more complicated than for Little Boy.

And before testing the physicists weren't sure whether the explosion would trigger a chain reaction that would enflame the whole of the earth's atmosphere, but in the end they were ready to risk it...
