Delbert McClinton is well known in Texas for his roadhouse rock & juke joint blues. He's not so successful internationally, but a young John Lennon had the good sense to take a few harmonica lessons:

I think one of the Beatles strengths was to let a lot of music soak in to their songs - Buddy Holly, Delbert M., Ravi Shankar, the Isleys, ... OK, maybe Ringo's cover of Buck Owens' "Act Naturally" was less than stellar, but it was fun.
