On why Post Codes are great and people aren't.

Working on a mail order line I am accutely aware of the problems generated by people not having full post codes or addresses. Bear in mind our products are expensive its incredible how little care people take to have accurate information needed to get things there, even if on the order form its a manditory field and its made clear in the instructions we have to have this information to send things out.

Dispite the modern post code system being forty years old some of the older generations insist it is not neccessary and because they always just use the normal postal addresses to get letters there they are often fairly militant its fine. The fact some poor blighter has to sit in a sorting office and find the codes any way is lost on them. Its not unknown for them to even try and send things to places without even the front door number or house name.

Sending things to hospitals also highlights some people's lack of common sense or imgination. Many simply provide the hospital's name and expect it to get there, no town or postcode and even more rarely a street. Even more important many don't find out which ward the recipient is on and assume it will be delivered promptly within a hospital which can often contain thousands of people. Like there is a team of Nurses for whome delivering stuff is more important than caring for sick people.

To be fair though most people do have the full address or at least accept its importance and don't try and lecture me for their own mistakes. smiley - biggrin
