I'm baffled by this. Why should locals call for "sense to prevail"? These short lines make perfect sense.

I have to agree. The explanation given by the council seems perfectly sensible.

It it us, the council tax payer, who pays for this idiocy. Two places where you are not allowed to park separated by 45 inches? You'd have to be a moron to think you could park your car there legally! The yellow lines are totally unnecessary in my view.

Does the law not state that all of your car has to be covering the yellow lines, thus if you have the front wheel off them, you are not breaking restrictions? Perhaps it is to do with that - though I don't see why they don't just join up the two restricted places.

As someone who drives as part of my work and has designated parking at many sites, I for one would value a little extra *wiggle* room to park. I can see how it might annoy other people, though.
