This is completely true: My mother, in her younger and more frivilous days, was with her friends playing music. She was on acoustic guitar, sneezed, and split her lip! Apparently she hit her face into the guitar.
I did something similar once: After a long rest in a classical piece, I raised my clarenette to begin the next section and poked myself in the eye with the reed.
