Many companies like Acronyms.
One of the best (or possibly worst) companies in the field of acronymising everything (is that really a word?) is DEC, an acronym for Digital Equipment Corporation.
DEC have been taken over by Compaq in recent years, but their love of TLA's (three letter acronyms) is unabated...
Anyone who as ever got their DCL and MCR confused while using RSX for VMS on a VAX pretenting to be a PDP will know exactly what I mean.
Time to name and shame the obsessive devisers of acronyms (NASODA)...!

Nascom systems used to name everything starting with the three letters "NAS", until somebody designated their printer interface "NASTTY"....
(Not a TLA story, but I found it amusing...)
