So what content do postcards ussually contain? I'm guessing it can be anything, but are there any standard topics?
Oh, and btw, using hotmail you can add any email sender automatically detected as 'junk' to a 'safe list', from the 'junk mail' section.

My postcards are a general greeting "Hi from wherever" then a basic chat of who they are and possibly an address if they want a response. I sign my own postcards with my name and address as well. If you put a specific interest on your profile (eg space) the senders will try and choose an appropriate postcard.
I have received back as many postcards as I have sent so far, it's a lovely thing to be part of.
Congratulations to Sho and thanks once again for bringing this into my life

Yep, congrats Sho and thanks for introducing me to Postcrossing and I hope that many more Hootooers will join
I usually put a short bit about me and a little bit about where I live. I always send a local postcard

I usually see what they have written in their profile and try to reference that - it makes the message more personal.
I've sent 19 cards now, but I have 5 still travelling so I can't send any more. I've received 7 or 8 so I have a few coming in.
But what a great idea! I've always wanted to try Bookcrossing but I like to keep all my books.
So now I get mail and the Gruesomes are very very sure where Finland is on our globe!

Yea, Finland is definitely the place I most post to!
And still only one male recipient.
Today's (an American grandma) asked for a fruit sticker, as in one of those little stickers on an apple or banana, not those sheets of stickers with smiley-face fruit. I went to Tescos anyway and bought a Pink Lady apple for my elevenses and popped the sticker on her postcard.
First time I've heard of anyone collecting fruit labels.

Sounds like a great idea.
I used to enjoy get letters from foreign penpals when I was younger.
I had 2 male friends in Austria arguing over me once!
*whispers* I collect fruit stickers.

fruit stickers? whatever for?
I got one from Holland today, about 30km from where I am
I think the reason I so like this is because I always moved around as a kid, so I was always quite a way from my family. back in those days we didn't have a phone, so most contact was by letter. Getting one usually meant birthdays or something - so that's a nice connection.
Then I was at boarding school - and again, we didn't have a phone at home, so letters (especially from home) were always extremely welcome.
Then I was in the Army - again, the importance of mail cannot be overemphasised (I used to join those schemes to write to soldiers who were on ops,but I don't have time now -if such a thing still exists)
so anything that gets me mor post is a hugely exciting thing for me.

A lot of Schools in this area have the kids 'Send a letter to a Sailor' I think more people should write to Forces overseas, as Sho said "the importance of mail cannot be overemphasised".
