A Conversation for Riding a Motorbike to Work

Riding to work

A most excellent piece, nice one.
As an ex-ride-to-work chap myself, I could relate to every line (especially the point about the officers of the Law and Volvo drivers).
I only ride for pleasure now, since losing a leg in a bike smash in 2000 but as that also means I no longer have to work, either the trike or one of the bikes are out most days.
Keep up the good work and remember to keep the rubber side down.

Yep! I will go along with what Justed said there. I myself was a ride to work punter when I fisrt came out of the R.N. I never had a car so the old motorbike was the only way to cover the 18 miles to the site where I worked. Now in a Sottish winter, biking takes on a whole now identity! it used to take me at least half an hour just to get kitted out for the "interesting" journey to work at 6am, long before the gritters came out to work? My feet would be wrapped up in "tesco" bags, scarf around the mouth!, yes it was different? It always amazed me however that when returning from a night shift at 7am, just how often the Road Police would always stop me! and never car drivers. In fact I was stopped so often that a letter to the chief constable was my only saviour. If I got soaked on my way to work (which was often) I had to do my 12 hour shift, shivering as my job was not in a cozy office, it was as a welder high up on a rig construction. Oh! yes, happy days indeedsmiley - oksmiley - ermsmiley - winkeye

Prospecting duties? Just visit the clubhouse page...and start a conversation (link above)

I haven't met a single one of the club members - they're all fellow H2G2 researchers - the club is a virtual MC smiley - smiley

Nice one, see you in there then and thanks.
I've a mate in Brisbane at the moment, a fellow Pommie Biker, so I'll pass on the details when he next emails.
