John Ridgway Save the Albatross Voyage 2003-4
AIM: TO PREVENT THE NEEDLESS SLAUGHTER OF THE ALBATROSS"NEVER DOUBT THAT A SMALL HANDFUL OF PEOPLE CAN CHANGE THE WORLD: INDEED IT IS THE ONLY THING THAT EVER HAS." (Margaret Mead).
Dear Pierre, Quentin, Carol, Brent, Ben and Frances,
Time is flying by.
So much is happening that it not easy to collect our thoughts and then express what we are thinking to people far away who we have never met.
But we must. We need a Plan.
"The Opportunity of a lifetime must be taken in the lifetime of the Opportunity."Well, I think this Voyage IS one of those rare chances in life – and you have taken it.
Now, to make the utmost of that Opportunity.
Here are some thoughts, please look at them laterally and creatively:
Given a month on a sailing boat, with a voice to the World:
- How would YOU save the albatross?
- How would YOU reach the widest audience and make them listen to YOUR Plan?
- How would YOU reach out to schools in offending countries and convince millions of children to persuade their parents that “To save the albatross, all you need is a willing skipper, on every fishing boat.”?
- What use could YOU make of our online map?1
Please outline your thoughts in the Conversation area below. I look forward to seeing your individual contributions before Monday 2 June.
There is always a better way.
A year from now, and your Opportunity will be gone.
Into the mist…John Ridgway.
26 May 2003.
