Volunteers please help with berthing arrangements
Carol - New Zealand Started conversation Jun 2, 2003
Kia ora (hello in Maori)
To reduce John's workload we need to help arrange berthing in the ports of call during the voyage.
To help the voyage it would be great if we can get free berthing for the boat - a little bit of sweet talking involved!
In New Zealand I am arranging berthing for English Rose VI in Wellington, Dunedin and the Chatham Islands. If we have to detour because of weather, or changes to the schedule, I will also organise back-up berthing in Auckland and the Marlborough Sounds.
I'm working with the city authority in Wellington to arrange a high-profile berth and it looks likely that it will be free.
When i join the voyage in Melbourne I will take a courtesy flag with me (this is a small New Zealand flag for English Rose VI). All the volunteers should be able to help with this.
If you're not sure who can help with berthing, perhaps a local yacht club can help?

Hi Carol,
Really good, thanksalotty. As well as an NZ courtesy flag, maybe you could bring a chart of Wellington harbour to Melbourne, showing exactly where we have to go, in case it's dark or stormy.
It would be really handy if coul try and arrange this for Tenerife (Leon), Capetown (Leon), Melbourne (Nick), and Port Stanley (Ben).
Into the mist...John.
