Good article. I remember seeing the linotype machines used by my local newspaper when I was a kid. They were bizarre machines really - actually casting type on the fly!
(As for me, I was more used to typesetting by hand in a 'stick' - since my dad was a self-employed printer, so I've grown up with an appreciation of printing technology)
