Did you hear Punt & Dennis do their version of the shipping forecast on their programme whose name temporarily escapes me? (Something like The Week This Week but I know that's not it)(ah, I've just found it - The Now Show). It was around the time that they had rediscovered Archers episodes from the sixties and P&D were speculating on what they might sound like and what else might have been found from the sixties.
Anyway, the point is, they did the shipping forecast to the 'tune' of the Beatles' "I am the egg-man", something like:
I am the weather-man
We are the trawlermen
I am the forecast (moderate to good)
I can't remember how they did the verses but they were full of lines like "Don't let the German Bight" and were VERY VERY funny.
Hmmm, I see I inadvertently linked to 'Top/Everything/History and Politics' in Post 17, sorry about that
Thank goodness

oh, that always happens when people try abbreviating Channel 4.
It's when you abbbreviate Formula 1 to F1 that things get slightly more bizarre.
For a minute there, i thought you were going to say the Punt and Dennis thing was "It's Been A Bad Week" (the one with the "worst week of the week award awarded weekly on a week by week basis"), but the Now Show does seem more likely. Unfortunately, I must not have ha=eard that one, as I'm sure I'd remember it. Ah well, BBC7 will probably stick it on sometime anyway.
