Surely the main reason not to inhale the gas from the outlet is the fact that is almost certainly likely to be dispensed at a higher pressure than your lungs can handle, and will lead to some nasty rupturing.

No. unless you strap the duct to your trachaea. Or glue it to your mouth. It is more likely that the hose will exit your mouth rocket-wise instead of harming your lungs.

Mind you, I do have abnormal lungs, according to my asthma therapist.

Well... It's surely not a nice thing to try out. It probably also depends if you are biting the outlet or not, or if you're directly putting your mouth on the metal nozzle... I was thinking more of a hose inserted in my mouth and what would happen if I turned the gas on instantly. I would probably feel a punch and the hose would fly out almost immediately.
Well... Certainly not a nice thing to do.
